My windscreen wipers stopped working on my way home last night. Its not the relay. I can hear the motor going but the wipers are static. Obviously I cant take the bonnet off. Is this a trip back to the dealers?

Any info appreciated...

Mats there was a similar problem on here a month or so back,i think it had something to do with broken splines.
Check out the search facility.I'm sure it was a month or two,no longer.

As a slight aside, its worth keeping a bottle of rain-x glass treatment in the car. It can save your bacon regards getting home if your wipers pack up in heavy rain.

You can get it from Halfords for about £6-7 I think

take the bonnet off and check the nuts at the bottom of the wiper arms are not loose, they hold the arms to the splines. if this does not cure them check out all the linkages. if you can here the motor turning it must be mechanical

i have got a similiar prob....i suspect yours might be the same...whip the bonnet off (5 min job) just watch your paint work when lifting the bonnet off. you'll then see theres a connecting rod running from one arm to the other...i reckon the plastic plug half way along has popped open. you should be able to push it back together. the dealer recommends you then drill and pin it but see how you go....im tempted to whack a bit of silicone or something suitably grabby in too!
