Barn-Find S1 Espada
Discussion
I like to see these barn finds.
10-15K, is this a realistic price for this car in this condition? Would it be economically viable to spend another 10-15K to restore it?
I dont know anything about classic lambo prices, but i see that a mrk 3 is currently for sale in the small adds for 15k.
That said i would like to see it have a second chance of life.

My guess is that you'd need to have rather deep pockets for this one, even if everything under the bonnet wasn’t seized solid, it will still need oodles of work on the oily bits, everything rubber replacing, paint and probably a full or at least partial new interior.
The rear grill is pretty cool and not something I've seen on a production one in the wild before.
With any luck, there will be somebody out there with the money and the determination to do it properly

Needs major work. A tidy Espada is 30ish. I'd say it needs at least 15ish to spend on . . . S1 with the marzal dash though . . . . Yum.10-15K, is this a realistic price for this car in this condition? Would it be economically viable to spend another 10-15K to restore it?

This is financially not very interesting. I just restored my 365 bb and now in process of restoring a 250 serie 1 pf. Restoring one car will cost at least 100 000 euro. Nt much difference in restoring a e type or ferrari for sure.
Better buy a espada in good condition for 50 000 or so much much cheaper.

And it's in Gold!!!!
... so, were you the buyer of this Espada then Ian???

That's slightly strong money for an Espada in that condition though it does appear to be mostly there and with no obvious amounts of stuff missing.
Seeing a Series 1 hex-dash Espada is as rare an event as seeing blood dripping from the fangs of mad-eyed Hetty the Hen though I'm told there is actually an example of a factory built rhd Series 1 hex-dash Espada being restored in the UK at this time, despite the decades-old insistence from many 'experts' that such car was "Impossibili! Essi non furano mai fatto!"...
Also, as with any older Lamborghini, the cost and effort needed to restore a car like this Espada to any condition from 'useable if a bit scruffy' to Pebble Beach 'perfection' (yeuch... prefer a bit of credible, real world patina myself...) would vastly outweigh the sale value.
Buying and restoring any old Lamborghini should never be undertaken by those wishing to make big bucks since there isn't that kind of money to be made from them. There is, however, a colossal amount of good feeling to be had from owning an older Lamborghini and making it (at least in some ways) like the car it once was and the car it was intended to be.
... I'm looking forward to Ian's first venture into ownership of a classic Lamborghini older than his Countach or his Diablo - I reckon a 400GT might be the very thing - even if it's shiny brown and not gold...

But that 350 has me reaching for the kleenex!!!
- what a stunning car!!
Talking of CT'S.... I miss that car sooooooooooooooooooooo much!!
now, call me Mr P. E. Dantic if you want, but that beautiful brown car is actually a 400GT. The external differences between the 350 and 400 are quite obvious once you know what you're looking for and the interior and engine similarly different (eh?) ... my easiest way to 'spot' the difference between the two even in an old and cramped photo is the distance between the top of the front wheelarch and the swage line that swoops along the side of the cars. That distance is always twice as deep on the 400 verses the 350...

Mind you, once you start getting into the older Lambos, the detail and the fascination just doesn't stop coming at you!
I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought that you'd miss your Countach Ian! There are some who say that there is no substitute for a Countach, especially not if you've owned one and let it go and that if you must have other cars they must be at least Lamborghinis and you should only buy them in addition to your Countach since you'd otherwise be missing the car in a way you'd not have thought possible if you'd never actually had it!
