Well chaps I have finally got round to posting some piccies (sorry about the quality only had my iPhone with me) of the launch event held here in Dusseldorf on Thursday night. Jammy sod that I am I managed to blag an invite to the worldwide first presentation outside of the Mclaren HQ.
Where should I start with such an awesome piece of kit? Basically its perfect, plain and simple. It looks amazing and the tech thats gone into it is on another level to anything else out there at the mo. I have to say thanks to Andy from Mclaren who took plenty of time explaining all the details of construction, for example the carbon monocell is made in only 4 hours thanks to a new method developed just for this car! you can read more on their website. Child that I am my fave detail was the touch sensive door mechanism, as one guy there put it "stroke her and she opens up, bit like the Mrs really"
Even though the official prices have not been announced they had around 20 signed contracts by the end of the night which Tim (the dealer) must be happy about seeing as the target for each of the 4 dealers in Germany is 35 cars per year.

Enjoy

If Ferrari hadn't of upset him so badly, Ron wouldn't have had to show them how to build cars properly.

Thats the rear wheel and the small caliper is for the handbrake.

Whilst I'm sure that it will drive utterly brilliantly, alongside the F358, it already looks badly dated, quite dull, and with some really clumsy detailing.

Sorry and all that, just doesn't do it for me at all.

Guys wait till you see it in the flesh. I was the same, thinking it looked bland next to a 458 but when you see it it's stunning

The problem with the design of the 458 is that it is very much of the moment, therefore I suspect it will not age well as a design. Yes the Mclaren appears to be a simple design, but if you look back so was the F1 and that still looks good today. I think the MP4 could age just as well.

Don't get me wrong, its a lovely car, bu I'm really not keen on the rear and the black surround where the exhaust is.

Spoils what is otherwise a ver handsome car IMO.

Pauly - if you took any additional photos of the F1 I'd really enjoy seeing them.

Thanks!
