Ignition - intermitent fault

Griff starts to misfire and after about half a mile the engine cuts out and would not restart. A neon tester showed no spark at a plug. Took the main HT lead off, looked inside the distributor cap put all back, it then started and run but only for half a mile and then stopped again but no misfire, just went dead. Same procedure to get started got home and took of all leads/connectors except the blue plug on the amplifier which appears to be held in place by the aluminium heat sink - anyone know the procedure for removing this plug? Could not find any bad/corroded connections. Put everything back, ran it in the drive only until well up to temp. but could not get it to cut out. I may have cured the fault but a bit wary of taking on the road as not convinced it may be a fault under load. Anyone experinced this kind of fault who can offer any clues as to the likley fault.

i had same issue, consider changing the amp as its the cheapest item to change then look at the coil until you eliminate the cut out/hestitation

at least you will get more confidence when going out in your p and j (the amp change cured my griff's problem)

To remove the blue plug you have to unbolt the amp from the heatsink.

I had a similar thing.. turned out to be a clogged fuel filter..

My money goes with a coil, had the same problem on mine, now sorted. Speak to Tim at ACT, genuine Bosch part for around 45 quid if I recall?

The fact that it dies as soon as everything is upto temp, would indicate something is breaking down with heat, which is a common symptom of either the coil, amp or decaying leads.
