Well, this is well in advance but i was just pondering it today so i thought i may aswell ask for your thoughts.

In August i am spending a few days with my old uni mates and we are meeting up in Pembroke, well, that's the nearest big town. Anyway, the plan is to RV for late afternooon will be a weekday, probably a thursday and then have a long weekend of booze/bbqs/fun.

I'll be travelling from Worcester and when i've done this trip before i've stuck to motorways and then A roads when they finish, basically i haven't done the scenic hilly route.

Now i don't really fancy doing it in my MX5 as it is a long way and the '5 isn't the most comfortable of cars so hopefully i'll do it in a (either mine or the hopeful replacement) 928...proper GT stle. However i was wondering if there is a particular route i should hit which is full of nice roads and whether maybe the '5 would be a better chariot in this case. Time isn't an issue as i won't be working the day i leave anyway.

Anybody got any good road/route ideas?

Worcester to Pembroke in an MX5 - it's only 144 to 180 miles according to Google Maps!

People drive all around Europe in them; that journey must be 5 hrs max with bad traffic.

Take the MX5 and a small bag :-)

Crikey, I've done nearly 400 miles in one day in a Caterham.

An MX5 is quite a comfy car IMO. Try 5-up in a sub-1-litre Fiesta with luggage for 2-weeks between Barcelona and Solihull in one go.

You don't travel much I assume? You'll be fine in the MX5. It should take you no longer than 3 hours unless you drive "carefully" but even then it'll be 4 hours at worst.

Maybe i'm a lightweight wink the '5 just gets a bit tedious at motorway speeds after a while but if there was a "twisty" alternative to the M/A road route then it would be a different ballgame. However for motorways and A roads the 928 is perfect.

I know it's not far and i have driven further just wondered if anybody had any other route suggestions which include some good driving roads, otherwise i'll probably just stick with the Porsche.
