Places of Interest just off A1/A1M
Discussion
Going up to sunny Scotland today with the Family.
Decided to head up via the Al/A1M (from London) for a change.
I know there is a Aircraft museum at Newark we may stop at, we'll also be stopping off at Berwick.
Is there anything else worth visiting on the way up, as close to the A1/A1M as possible.
Cheers

Possibly a bit close to london but if your are interested in vintage aircraft Old Warden has the Shuttleworth Collection http://www.shuttleworth.org/shuttleworth-collectio...
As this was my home town - The air museum was said to be the second largest private collection in the country, however it is on an old airfield on the Newark show ground. As for Newark its self, on a fine sunny day a walk along the river Trent is nice along with the remains of the castle and town museum. There a number of cafes / tea rooms on castle gate. The rest of the town has some interesting historical buildings, like the Parish church, where you can still see the cannon ball hole in the spire from the civil war.
