MoTec Guy in Switzerland / Austria / Germany?
Discussion
I'm still chasing Dave Rowe for linking up the work he's already done ages ago and not yet provided
I'm in contact with MoTec and they are VERY good but I want to let that run it's course before asking for anyone local.
It's a real strange one I have, when the clutch pedal is depress, even a little, the engine dies and gear 2 flashes up on the dash
Car in neutral
Clutch pedal up – clutch engaged
Engine start
Runs fine
Depress clutch pedal, even a little (clutch disengaged)
Engine stumbles, if clutch is released it runs fine or if left depressed it stalls
Same with Traction Control ON or OFF
Once in gear, clutch engaged (NOT depressed) and driving along there is no problem
What I’ve found so far
1. The dash flashes up gear “2” for a moment and the M800 see gear 2.
2. There seem to be a ignition cut signal but not every time
3. The M800 has a diagnostic error the moment the clutch is pressed “Error Syn Signal” is logged, clear it and touch the clutch and it pops up again
4. While on track with mid to high RPM’s there might have been a vibration but sort of felt like the Traction Control but cleared itself at higher RPM’s
Here’s what I’ve done so far
5. Take off clutch pressure switch connector
6. Check that no wires are touching clutch mechanism or I’m hitting when pressing
7. Wiggle the wires that are anywhere near anything clutch related
8. Snugged up crank sensor and rerouted wires
9. Disconnect gear pot
10. Disconnect Gearbox ECU
None of the above changes anything.

is the speedo hooked up to the motec ? sounds like there is a programming that if the speedo is not returning a signal the ECU is shutting off.
As soon you disengage the clucth are the drive shafts stopping turning ?, or is that even happening in Neutral ?
Modern ECU are shutting off fuel pumps with stalling engines, maybe this is a similar problem, maybe the rev input and speedo input are somehow wired vice versa ?

that really makes no sense to me, even in case of traction control, what the heck has the clutch to do with it ? You said you have a clutch pressure switch ?
What for ? Sounds maybe that there is a cable that is moving and cutting the circuit once the clutch pedal or take cylinder is moving ? Have you checked ?

I had the the crank sensor out, it was a bit loose as the bolt was too long.
I wiggled it around while loose and it didn't do anything.
It's now securly installed.
No difference
My plan tomorrow was to mesure the back of the flex plate with a dial indicator, I didn't have anyone today to help with that, to see what end float is and then talk to the engine builder.
There still is the odd thing that it ECU see it going gearbox going in to second gear and seems to cut the ignition back for a shift.
I may also give Hewland a call to get their thougths.
