My insurance is up for renewal soon, and I received an SP30 in March. Their policy documentation states that I don't need to inform them of the SP30 until I renew, so I haven't. This would indicate that it's not a "big deal" to them, right?

So why, when I get quotes online as a new customer, does the price go up by about £150-£200 with the SP30 declared? I thought insurance companies weren't too bothered generally!

Is this going to translate to my renewal price with them as well?

Anyone got any experiences to share?

Thanks smile

Admiral dosn't charge mid-term for motoring convictions, they just need the info at renewal to generate a correct renewal premium.

It will vary per insurer as to how it affects the premium some insurer's may not rate highly on them some may.

Mine went up by about £100 I think, that was a while back. A second SP50 punched it up further, though the difference seemed to drop back a fair bit. When I renewed the 6 points I have from between 4 and 5 years ago didn't really seem to affect it much.

It'll go up.

And you should tell them anyway.

From memory it does expressly say that they don't need to know throughout the year. When I got mine I found and made a note of the time and date, they said it was unnecessary to note it down though
