Just seen a link to this on the BBC F1 website's gossip column. Normally I will not listen to the tripe printed by the Daily Wail, but does anyone reckon this has much truth in it? I wouldn't think Jenson would sue Mercedes seeing as his current car is being powered by them?

i.e he was promised a car if he won the world title, he wanted that car, he asked to court to force them to give him that car.
They said he could have a new one built for him (which isn't the point now is it???!), he said no he wants one he actually drove in the championship (fair enough). They then agreed a settlement which we don't know the details of and he dropped the court action.
One suspects Brawn/Mercedes gave him what he wanted i.e. a car he used in a race.
The contract seems fairly clear that he was due a car if he won the WDC. I suspect that it was just that Mercedes/Brawn as was simply thought he wouldn't bother and they could keep it. May be an element of sour grapes.
Once he issue proceedings they probably knew they'd lose so they gave him the car as per the contract.

However it may well be that Merc didn't want to hand over a chassis in Jan (when Button's new employers might have got some benefit out of it) but are happy to do so now when the car is of no further value to anybody. (Well, apart from HRT perhaps).

Understandable, but I am fairly sure that all involved would have been more than aware of this potential issue and an e-mail along the lines of "Dear Jenson, we have no problems providing you with the chassis as per your original contract but are sure that you will understand if we store this for you until the end of November. We were thinking chassis number 003 or 005, which would you prefer we put on one side?" if that was the issue.Rude-boy said:

I saw this and actually immediately thought they wouldn't give him a car because they didn't have enough...
IINM, Brawn only actually built 2 or 3 chassis throughout the whole season. Jenson and Rubens didn't have any major accidents so none were written off, hence there being no need to build anymore (there probably wasn't the budget to either)
We know for sure that one chassis was repainted in Mercedes' current colours to use at the launch party for the 2010 season.
One is in the Mercedes museum.
I assume that the other (if there is one) is used for promotional duties, possibly sans engine.
You'd have to think therefore that giving up one for Jenson would be a bit of an issue.
