Race of Champions - Anyone have any experience to share?

I have just seen that the Race of Champions is going to be held in at the Espirit Arena in Düsseldorf this November, which is in walking distance of our apartment.

It is quite expensive for tickets (around €100 for a good view), but the likes of Michael Schumacher and Sébastien Loeb have signed up, so I guess the standard of driving will be reasonable

Has anyone ever been to this event? Is it worth the money? I quite fancy it, but would be interested to hear fellow PH'ers opinions before loading the credit card further.

Also, anyone who is interested, Düsseldorf is an interesting place to visit, excellent beer, great food, the marvellous MeilenWerk classic car museum. Oh, and the fantastic Christmas markets will be on then, so it would be something for the missus to do whilst you are watching cars going round and round!

Go, you'll love it, you will never see so many drivers from different types of racing in one place, and they all like to show off.

I've been to it when it was at Wembley, was a great day out. Well worth the tickets.

Great fun, but if its an open air stadium take plenty of layers, bloody cold sitting there all day as it gets dark!

I went when it was at the Stade de France, I totally agree wrap up lots, it can be very very cold. I was perhaps sat a little too far away (towards the top of the stadium) to really appreciate it (but far enough away to see the entire track at once), but it was great to see all the different drivers going head to head, it was very entertaining and was not too expensive back then either.

I went to the Wembley event. We were sat quite high up and a long way from the action, so that the circuit resembled a Scalextric track. It was a fun day out, and the sight of DC doing donuts in the Red Bull F1 car bought a great big grin to my face.
Go, you won't regret it.

I went to Wembley and Stade de France (twice) and both were good events with the French show being better by dint of having a full stadium so better atmosphere.

We went to the first Wembley event and it was awesome, especially as the off-season means precious little racing for a few months. It was absolutely freezing, so heed the advice concerning hats, scarfs, etc.

Yep, this. But don't forget your feet. There is no point in having a warm body, but feet like blocks of ice!

Possibly the nicest moment for me was seeing Andy Priaulx rip a hole in the Wembley turf right by the penalty spot for kickball.

A good day out though.
