I'm rather hoping the big wheel will be at the Le Mans Classic, but can anyone confirm based on previous years ?

Keeping my fingers crossed, because the view from up there is cracking, especially around sunset.

Also, is it possible to access all the spectator areas, such as the Porsche curves banking (inside and outside) and the roof of the buildings down by the kart track ?

Just pondering photographic locations and whether there are any areas I don't need to bother with because they'll be off limits.

Been to the Classic events three editions in a row and never saw the big wheel. In fact, the whole ground is occupied solely by a car park.

I doubt that the big wheel will be there. I once got on the roof at the kart track during the modern event by going early in the morning and not stopping for any marshals, who weren't really that fussed anyway. smile

Likewise i'd be surprised if you couldn't get to the track besides the Mulsanne at the restaurant if you went at dawn.

Thanks, and shame frown

Not entirely surprised to be honest, but was worth asking.

Hypothetically speaking of course wink, would this be the restaurant by the first or second chicane ??

Many years ago (I think 1997) I was stood in between the bushes and the armco by the restaurant just before the first chicane, watching the cars whistle past me at 'some' mph ! This was well before all the netting and catch-fencing appeared, and something I'll long remember.

i'm assuming he's talking about Restaurant Les Hunaudieres
in between the two chicanes

Yes, but it's before the first chicane. Back when i used to go to the main event security was definitely lax early in the morning. smile

Wasn't sure if he meant the Hotel Arbor, but not sure if that's accessible for the Classic in the same way as it is for the main race.

But for the Classic, I'm assuming the same catch-fencing will be up outside the first restaurant, although if it isn't then that'll be a bonus.

They were taking it down Sunday morning after the main event, which would suggest it won't be there.
