I currently have a leon cupra r 210, i fancy a change and have been looking at the Accord Type R. Are they too similar is there anything else out for around five grand with similar spec performance. Needs to be five doors due to the little one and have a decent boot and decent performance. the leon is an 03 with 53000 miles and fsh and apart from yellow paint problems is in excelllent nick so i know the car is in excellent nick, and would want to move to a good example of whatever other mark.

Depends what you are after and the reasons for wanting to get rid of the SEAT.

I suspect on many levels these cars are very similar, as in FWD and of a similar size and weight. I suspect (although haven't driven) that the Honda would be the more focused driving machine.

On other levels they will be very different, the key one being power delivery. You'll either love or hate the revvy n/a VTEC. So you really need to drive one.

But by the same measure and again depending on the "why" you want to change, there are loads of alternative fast 4 door cars for £5k.

Obvious answer would include things like an Impreza (probably bug or blob eye new age). A number of BMW's from a good late e36's to earlier e46's.

You could probably buy quite a tidy V8 Jag or Merc. Certainly 3.0 litre X-Types are in this price range.

And if it's really something different, then this certainly appeals to me:

MG ZT 260se V8 facelift. (2004)
113,000 miles £4,995

I love the seat, and it is a great car, but its driving experience is a bit bland. Just looking for whats out there, have checked put some of the jags and they seem like serious bargains.

I'm personally a bit of a fan of the X-Type. Lovely interior and in "sport" trim, as in no chrome the X-Type looks fairly sharp. It's a bit bigger and heavier than a hatch though, so won't be as chuckable, but it's a good chassis with good steering. All reviews of the X-Type are positive in terms of driving dynamics.

Only thing I'd say on them, is I've heard that post 2003 cars have a different centre diff, from an LSD to an open unit. If this is true then I'd personally opt for an earlier example.
