Car is making an odd noise

Hi,

I'm not sure your problem is the same as I had. My mini cooper started making a similar noise when idiling, but not when running. I had it checked out and I was advised the water pump for the air con had one. I was quoted £400 for the part, just to get the air con working. Instead of doing this I had a shorter belt put on and by-passed the air con. I no longer have air con, but it only cost £65 and I no longer have a strange noise.
