A couple of Focus ST space questions
Discussion
Thinking of getting an early 2002/3 Focus ST170 to use as an everyday car to replace the BMW 325i Touring (which is starting to get expensive to run). I've been in a couple of the newer shape Focus' and was impressed by the amount of room inside however wanted to ask you guys if the older one's were similar? Particularly interested in the boot space as one of the requirements is the ability to stick my dog in the back (Vizsla - approx labrador size). I guess if space is okay the only downside will be the edges (either side of the parcel shelf) jutting in.
Are there any particular things to watch for when buying? Also any must have options or did the ST's come fully spec'd anyway?
Cheers in advance,
Graham

Hi i have a 170.They are a bit smaller than the newer shape, leg room in the front is a bit less.
You should have no problem with the dog in the boot as i have had a dog that size in the boot.
With ref to specs there were 3 specs, the basic spec, next one up had xenon headlights, traction control and climate and top spec had all these plus full leather recaros and uprgraded stereo with a sub box in the boot.
I have never really had any issues but check for leaking power steering pump, heatshield rattle on the exhaust or cat are common problems.
