Hello chaps.
As it says really, how can you identify real ACS 19"s on an e46?
is there some sort of part number cast onto them or something like that?

Cheers.

Hiya

Yes, Genuine wheels from any high end manufacturer will have identifying stamps in their wheels. Now AC Schnitzer don't 'actually' make the wheels, more likely it's Ronal and perhaps one or two of the other German manufacturers who's names escape me at the moment !

I think also you'll see part numbers and I 'think' AC Schnitzer wheels will have that stamped in alongside the Ronal (or other brands names!) these can be used to identify with BMW or AC Schnitzer themselves.

The replica's that are out there are never 100% exact - they always are and look just slightly different, they won't have any brand name stamps on them, and just the minimal certification stamps of the factory that made them.

If the wheels are genuine, then they'll also be very much higher priced than the replica's that are out there.

Cheers, Dennis!

That's helpful.

It's mostly because we've found a car for BiL and it has them fitted. he doesn;t want them (wants something OE) but I was just trying to work out what they might be worth. they're good condition (not kerbed but lacquer so-so). if they were genuine they'd be worth as much as a grand (perhaps??) or more like 300 if fake. so should be fine whatever.. but if they were real then they'd pay for 2nd oe wheels and a service...!

it's a good price so he's taking a punt anyway but we'll see when we get them off the car!

Hi there,

Yep, if they're genuine 19 inch ACS wheels, and the tyres are good, you'll easily see £750-800+ for them and there's plenty of E46 owners out there who'd snap your arm off to have these as they're very rare and sought after. Obviously your bro in law isn't fussed with the modified/OEM+ look to BMW's and prefers standard so choose the OEM wheels which are 'relatively' sought after on the E46 (MV2's perhaps? I don't know too much about E46's!)

If the car had 19's on, then it may also have had lowering springs or a lowering suspension kit fitted (springs and shocks) if the previous owner also spent the same level as getting genuine ACS wheels, then you might have a very high quality brand of suspension on as well, that could be worth some good money as well. If everything turns out to the replica or less well reputable suspension, then remove and sell off via ebay quickly. If it's all high brand, sell via the E46 specific forums to maximise the chances of a sale and price acheived.

Cheers, Dennis!
