Recommend a good tree supplier in Hants?
Discussion
Hope you guys can help.
I'm looking to purchase a relatively mature tree in rememberance of my nan to plant in our back garden.
2 things I would be interested in your thoughts -
1. Best place to purchase - I don't want your usual homebase twig in a bag, looking for something around 8-14ft already so assume I need to avoid all the usual chains such as wyevale etc. I'm in Basingstoke so willing to travel for the right thing (as long as they deliver)
2. What Tree - already have a couple of silver birches and a range of mature bushes, the garden is large (for a 1990's estate) so can take a good sized tree - prefer something with light foliage like the silver birch or Acers - any suggestions
Thanks

It's a little way from you - but try Longacres Garden Centre at Bagshot. On the A30 about 1 mile from J3 of the M3. Huge garden centre and if you go mid week you will avoid the busyness of the weekends. They usually have a good selection of trees and if you can't find what you want will usually order it in. Sensible prices too.
Personally I'd avoid silver birch (although v. nice) they do grow quickly and suddenly your faced with getting the saw out in a radical way.
How about a nice ornamental cherry, Prunus Spire or Serula (attractive peeling bark) - Spring Blossom, autumn colour.....?
