Is the paint warranty on Lamborghinis the same in length as the warranty on the car or longer? I know some manufacturers do a longer paint warranty than the car warranty?

Just curious because my car warranty ran out last week, and want to know what/if any cover I still have smile

Yes the paint Warranty is longer, I think it's 6 years (Could be 10). I am in the process of having (Corrosion) work done on my 05 car at the moment.

I was wrong, apparently according to Lamborghini (I heard via LHW) there is no extra paint warranty. Any remedial paintwork that is needed to be done after the normal manufacturers warranty expires is down to Lamborghini's discretion. The corrosion that LHW are dealing with on my car was paid for by Lamborghini 'As a gesture of goodwill' ! I was also trying to get both my windscreen wipers replaced under warranty/good will, as the paint is bubbling up on them. Lamborghini wont replace them. No big deal as I can get hold of new replacements for only about £80 each. There does not seem to be much logic in the decision process.

I was under the impression that the corrosion warranty was 12 years. My 04 car has just been virtually resprayed at Lamborghini's expense, with no quibble at all.

mine have been bubbling slightly since year one

we were going to replace them at the end of the three year warranty, but if they're not covered then i might as well do them now : those small rust bubbles right in my line of site when i'm driving really annoy me !

So far I have been told 6 years, 10 years, 12 years and now 3. Depends who you talk to. I have been assured there is no extra warranty. I dont really know what to believe. Lamborghini seem to make it up as they go along. I am just happy they are fixing my corrosion. Apparently they do try and blame stone chips a lot of the time as the cause of corrosion. I am lucky that it's inside the doors where stone chips cant happen, giving them no excuse. Shocking really on cars of this value, especially as most are garaged in bad weather.

They are not covered for me, as my car is an 05, you may well be covered Andrew, if your still in warranty.

Lamborghini do indeed on occasion repair paint corrosion under a goodwill procedure. We have just done an 04 car.

The corrosion being discussed here is in the door shuts and quite possibly near the fuel filler and in the same place on the nearside. This is not uncommon on early cars.

The OP is where lacquer has lifted off the paint on one of the wings, this is tends to have started with a stone chip and water has worked under the lacquer and lifted it. This is unlikely to be approved under any warranty no matter how long.

The wipers are a common thing too and I'm sure I've never managed to get any under warranty!

I would tend to agree, but this is *obviously* not started by a stone chip. The laquer was 100% fine until all of a sudden the whole lot lifted along the seam of a wing around 1ft in length, and on a wing where no stone chips exist.

I would expect a stone chip to start a small amount of problems and get worse over time, Not go form nothing to major overnight on a warm summers day with no water in sight for weeks!

If Lambo decide not to cover it then its a very poor show, and will certainly be attracting some publicity, I will make sure of it smile

Just got mine back from Lambo London. They resprayed basically everything bar the roof, engine cover and rear bumper, all under warranty. Looking at the handbook it says the car has a 12 year anti-corrosion warranty.

They did a magnificent job by the way, looks brand new!

Great to hear.

I had a small laquer issue on one wing, and mine is in Lambo High Wycombe being done under warranty right now. It was not corrosion and my car was just out of its 3 year warranty, but I am glad Lamborghini stepped up and fixed the fault, that was clearly a defect.

This is what I originally thought. I wonder why main dealers are saying that there isn't an extended warranty, and any work to damaged paintwork caused by corrosion is goodwill. Also makes me wonder why Lamborghini will not repair/replace my wipers. As I mentioned before they (as well as it seems every other gallardo's wipers) have both bubbled up due to corrosion.

What happened to your car if you dont mind me asking to need a respray? Was it all corrosion?

Yes, some bubbling on front and back wings both sides. Nothing too serious, i actually hadn't noticed the fron wings, but they did them anyway.

Makes me wonder if these cars will desolve away into nothing within 10 years.

Not with a 12 year warranty. My 355 corroded on a regular basis. Had the buttresses repainted at least annually
