Is This The New Porsche 928?
Porsche website shows sketch of possible Panamera-based coupe
There have long been rumours that Porsche is planning to expand the Panamera platform's duties with a two-door spiritual successor to the 928.
Now this sketch has appeared on the homepage of Porsche Consulting, a subsidiary of Porsche Automobile SE that works on (among other things) manufacturing projects in the Automotive, construction and furniture industries.
The drawing seems to show a front-engined coupe with 911 and Panamera-esque styling cues.
Of course, this may be nothing more than a pretty drawing, but it is interesting to see a sketch that apparently relates to nothing Porsche currently produces displayed so prominently on its own website. And even more so when there are whispers that Porsche engineers are desperate for a V8 GT to directly rival Aston Martin, Mercedes and Ferrari.
It's also worth mentioning that, even if a 928 successor is in the works, this would be one of undoubtedly hundreds of possible sketches... so don't get too excited...

It'd need pop-up headlights for starters!
Aren't pop-up headlights pretty much illegal nowadays or very hard to get through tests?pilchardthecat said:

To replace the 928 it'll have to be:
a) So beautiful that its design would barely change over 20 years or so
...erm, that's it, really.
Cannot agree more... I honestly don't think that there has ever been a more timeless design, except the Miura and the GT40...a) So beautiful that its design would barely change over 20 years or so

Shame on Porsche for killing it. Just imagine what a twin-turboed GTS with modern interior would be like. Aston - Smashton, MB SL, BMW M6 eat your heart out. I would put down a deposit on one...
