Over the past few weeks, my E46 M3 has developed a curious tendancy for the alarm to go off randomly. All the window are shut, and I've given the bonnet a good slam, however it keeps going off every now and again.

Any tricks or things to check which might obviously be causing it to do that?

Would suspect its a faulty bonnet switch pretty common fault a new switch should cure it or just remove the wire and set alarm if it solves the problem a new switch from stealers not that expensive, Bill.

Of 2 odd alarm triggers, one was a moth inside the car, and another was a creaking dash.
The moth would set things off at any time, the creaking would always happen about 5 mins after parking.

Thats interesting about the dash as my Z4m coupe has decided to keep firing its alarm off after about 5 mins from locking and the dash is a bit creaky...

It going in for its Insp I next Friday so will get them to sort under warranty (as it's not 3 years old yet) so will let you know what they say...

Douse the bonnet sensor in WD40 - if that reduces the problem then there lies your problem.

Its cheap enough however to just change it - fixed mine.
