The Last Airbender - M. Night Shyamalan's New Blockbuster

Really looking forward to this.
The latest trailer:

"Star Wars for the current generation" apparently
7 new effects created especially for this film by ILM which are Avatar-esque in their complexity

Went to see Ironman 2 when it was first released and this was being trailered. Watching it thought ooh looks quite good, and various approving noises from around the cinema... and then... in voiceover man stylee the title, HE IS...THE LAST AIRBENDER! cue raucous laughing. I think the title might be a little off putting.

I'm pretty sure this film was originally called 'Avatar'... but then someone else stole the name.
It was:Avatar: The Last Airbender
or
Avatar: The Legend of Aang
Avatar = One who attains union with Spirit and then returns to earth to help humanity is called an avatar. The Chinese characters that appear at the top of the show's title card mean "the divine medium who has descended upon the mortal world.
The other film which is utter tosh got there first with the name

I remember seeing this on Apple Trailers as 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' before Camerons Avatar was announced. I'd already viewed the teaser for Airbender and wasn't that impressed. Then when everyone started raving about 'Avatar' I was somewhat confused, until I saw what they were talking about.

Critics reviews in the US are not showing the love.
"M. Night Shyamalan's THE LAST AIRBENDER is a hate crime against film lovers. No one should ever have to endure what I was unexpectedly put through yesterday afternoon watching this murky 3-D s
tstorm of a movie that appears to have been shot through unflushed toilet bowl water, which, upon reflection, seems 100 percent appropriate."
