I guess the question you're all asking is, can they reach us before or after the 45 minute mark? wink

Yahoo News said:
U.S. intelligence showing Iran likely would have the capability to attack Europe with "scores or even hundreds" of missiles factored into the Obama administration's decision to overhaul missile defences, Defence Secretary Robert Gates said on Thursday.

"One of the elements of the intelligence that contributed to the decision on the phased adaptive array (approach) was the realization that if Iran were actually to launch a missile attack on Europe, it wouldn't be just one or two missiles, or a handful," Gates said at a congressional hearing.

"It would more likely be a salvo kind of attack, where you would be dealing potentially with scores or even hundreds of missiles."

Sorry for being thick but how many is a score?

I always thought that scores meant lots? But is it less than 100?

Anyway on topic. No I don't think we could cope, a lot would hit there target and a lot of people would die.

Score usually equals 20.

Although in the context of me in a nightclub it always equalled Nil.

Don't know but the Americans are concerned enough to protect us from them so it must be true.

From fas.org

However, it is more likely that southern and eastern Europe would be hit (and there is a big difference in developing a nuclear weapon and the ability to accurately and, important, reliably deliver it with a missile)

"No Dong" hehe

As above, what reason would they have to fire on Europe, they'd face annihilation in return.

The difference between this lot and the old Soviets, though, is the current Iran regime (at least publicly) don't CARE about annihilation. In fact, they almost welcome it...

...and then there is the matter of who would actually strike them back? Ze Germans? The French? Greece?

Considering most of Eastern Europe is in Dover and just down the road, I'd suggest that is a rather big problem. wink

What a load of horsest. Iran is no threat at present.

ETA- and as for 'welcoming' annihilation, there are more of those End of Days nutters in the US than anywhere else.

I don't recall Ahmadinejad or any of the ruling clique saying they welcome (or don't care) about annhilation. Any linkys?

I think the people most likely to be worried about Iran's missile capability are those most likely to attack it in the first place. Lots of countries have a missile capability - its a pretty good deterrent.
