2010 24 Hour 2CV Race

Any other PHers doing it this year? I'll be in the 'Badgeroo' car again this year, my 4th year.

Pretty sure there are still cars/seats available for hire if anyone fancies it.

oh i'd love this, whats the rough figures Ted? i suppose you need a race liscence as well?

What sort of cost's are involved in this? I do a lot of 24hr Kart racing so it would be interesting to compare cost's.

Yep, Snetterton - a great track.

Costs of course vary depending what you take on yourself, but to hire a car with support would cost about £4K. You can pay more for a faster car

That's about £1K each for six hours of racing. It's a great team event too - lots of people mucking in to man the pit wall, help refuel etc etc.

The racing can be very close despite the lack of acceleration as all the cars are very similar in performance. I have great memories of my first year in which I was drifting sideways across Coram in pouring rain, getting overtaken on both sides!

If anyone fancies it, I can find out what cars/seats are available. Novice licence holders can do it (I've still got my novice cross as I've not done any other racing yet!).

What did I think I was doing? I blame sleep deprivation

Would love to again this year, but my racing budget is being gobbled up by the Clio (£3k on a gearbox and diff rebuild, now we have power steering issues.....).

I remember seeing these at Silverstone a few years back and it looked like a lark. We were at Copse, watched the start then there was essentially silence for what seemed like five minutes, then this huge group of 2CVs came swarming down the straight darting around like angry bees, going three or four wide into Copse. Very memorable and entertaining... until they'd gone and we had to wait for them to come round again

Sound's great! I'll have a chat with a couple of the guy's taht I have in mind to race with and see when they are around. We are thinking of coming down to the race for the weekend for a look around and see what we could do for next years event. The team that I race in 24hr karting has over 500 members so we might be looking at 3 or 4 teams depending on interest.

I'll let you know when I can pop over tho as that would be very handy.

Anyone ordered the fog for this year?

The on-line video and commentary was great fun last year - hope it's happening again. For anyone not willing or able to get to Snetterton try the web stuff. Almost like being there but without the guaranteed sleep deprivation.
