Interesting Dog Walk - Sorry Long Post
Discussion
So I was out this evening taking the labs for a stroll through the forest. I was engrossed in the podcast I was listening to, when I became aware of a car horn being sounded; we often get forestry trucks or off-roaders having a play.
I took one earphone out so I could hear if something was coming and carried out strolling along. After a short while I saw something glinting down a gently sloping bank, and as I got closer realised it was an off-roader, on it's side, which looked like it had been there a while. I climbed down to it following behind the dogs and heard a scream as one of the dogs appeared at the windscreen.
Turns out I'd stumbled across a very very lucky young lady who'd been trapped for about half an hour. She was lucky on two counts because a) had I not been there walking (on a route I never normally do), I doubt there would have seen another passer by until morning, and b) apart from a few scratches she was fine despite the how the car was laid. I'm amazed she didn't have a c-spine injury TBH.
Unfortunately for me I'd forgotten my phone and hers didn't have a signal so I ended having to jog quarter of a mile up the hill to get a bloody signal to call 999. To give them their dues, the retained fire lads did a cracking job and were on scene within about 10-15 minutes, which is bloody impressive - two engines from different villages - very quickly followed by the ambulance. It was quite exciting watching them go to work, stabilising the vehicle etc.
The moral of the story - always check an "abandoned" vehicle and remember to take your phone with you

Sorry to answer the usual questions.
Yes - fit. Petite professional horsey person, in her early twenties if it helps your mental picture
Sorry no pictures.
Swerved to avoid a deer - millions of the buggers around here. My neighbour is currently waiting for his car back after a deer smashed it to bits last week. Brother-in-law wrote his off last year.

When you say "off-roader" was it a proper jobby with winches, snorkel etc used for green laning and proper off roading or just a Range Rover/Shogun?
If it was the proper jobby and she was doing a bit if off roading she's an idiot as you should never go on your own.
Did the dogs enjoy their walk?

No it was a "soft-roader" - Vitara I think. She certainly wasn't off-roading, just heading home via a shortcut. Lives at one of the local farms. If it was the proper jobby and she was doing a bit if off roading she's an idiot as you should never go on your own.

Dogs had a great time thanks - eating the clouds of flies that were swarming around the car from the bracken. Bloody bitey things.
