Hi there, i am looking to buy an ultima most probaly a gtr in the near future and just had a few questions to ask hopefully you can point me in the right direction so here we go .

1. fuel system .
is it just personal preferance or which is better carb or injection i have good experiance with v8 engines i have a corvette with carbs and a camaro with injection system both seem to suit the car they are on either down to weight issues of each car or just set up i am not sure does a gtr run perfect on carbs or is the fuel injected route better .

2. the gtr is an amazing looking car from all aspects but i have come across many a gtr with out the rear wing is it needed they look nice with them and also with out again is it down to personal taste or does cause gremlins in the handling and stabilisation of the car.

many thanks .
Dane .

A small block Chevy can be run with either. Both will use lots of fuel and both will produce about the same amount of power all other mods being equal.
The EFI will have better town manners as it will better deal with cams of a larger overlap.

The more recent engine of choice is a Chevy from the LS series which will most likely be EFI anyway.

The rear wing does make the car in my eyes but is only really required at the highest of speeds. If you want to be up around the 180 level then you should also be looking at fitting a front splitter as well.

[Unashamed plug mode on] We do have a part built for sale both in the PH classifieds and Ebay should you be that interested.

Hi Steve , Thanks for the input i just wasent sure what setup would have been the best for an ultima, LS7 and the likes of look nice but they dont seem to be as powerfull as say a chevy that has extensive modifications to it maybe they are i am just set in my ways with the old engines,

As to the wing i thought as much 180 mph is some speed and i doubt i will be going that fast, to me it doesent look finshed with the carbon wing allthough i was just having a browse through the gallery and there is a certain gtr with the rear wing built into the bodywork it looks like it is kind of the rear wing from the spider but as it extends pushes outwards and covers the back of the car the said vehicle is silver not sure if that helps and it is rather nice would i have to modify the body to achieve this look or buy a diffrent rear end ,

as for the cars for sale i had a look and was intrested in a couple of part built ones on offer .
Cheers

How about the Aeromotions active wing? You can paint it to the car's color so it looks consistent with the car. The factory wing is functional but looks a bit detached from the car.

Here's the link with an active wing on a GTR.

I'm confused by your reply.
You say the LS engines are not powerful enough but then say you don't want to do 180mph.
Most SBCs would get you to 180 and the top spec from the Ultima engine supplier is an 800hp LS7.

The silver car with the wing in the body is the earlier Ultima Sport, the fore runner to the GTR.

Hi steve , sory i dident make myself very clear , if we just say that what ever engine you shall chose there all prety much are as good as each other depending on what kind of horse power you require around about 500bhp is enoughf for me .

that ultima sports is a superb looking car this is exactly what i am after were the rear wing moulds into the rear of the car making it look as one , what are the diferences in the sports and gtr cars is it just model name can gtr body parts be swapped with a sports and vice versa, as for engine i imagine this could be changed to suit, the sports are quite old now that silver one claims its an 89 model thats as old as me have you ever drove a sports what are the like in comp to the newer gtr.

Thanks Steve your info is great .
