Engine tapping...

Recently changed the oil in my fiesta, it was quite low as it took 1.5litres of oil 2 replenish it. The day after i drove about 30miles when the car developed a tapping noise under slight throttle. At first i thought it must of just sucked a bit of dirty oil from the bottom through, but the noise has persisted and im worried i mite of done serious damage...
Any ideas?

What car is it and what oil did you use? Mileage might help aswell,
