Bonnet Release

Hi,

Can anybody post up a picture of what the under the dash bonnet release for a Tamora should look like please?
Also I seem to have a strong smell of fuel in the boot, is this normal or is it possibly just a blocked breather pipe?

Fuel smell in boot could be from a fuel spill, knackered seal where the sender/pumps are accessed (under the centre section of carpet) or blocked breather. What do you need a pic of the bonnet release for? Look on page 25 of your owners manual if you need to know where it is, look at that pic and compare to your car, you carn't miss it.

With no posting history I am reluctant to give this sort of info away, sorry. Put some pics of your car up and introduce yourself.

Just bought the car and the bonnet release is broken, actually missing completely, hence the question.

Thanks for the info regarding the location of the fuel pump access, will check that out later.

Will try to post up some pictures later on, cannot access much from work. Amazed I can even get on here!

Which Tamora? From PH? Did you buy from a dealer or privately? If dealer then take it back.

On the T350 you can jimmy the bonnet open by prodding the catch with a screwdriver (like 95% of other cars on the road I guess). I assume the Tamora is similar since the bonnet opens the same direction.

OK, send me an email and I will send you a photo. As Targ says you can open it without the release as the catch is exposed. Without taking the lower case of the steering column there is not much to see though! If you are close to Dunstable Beds you can come and look at mine

I can release the bonnet no problem, it was a private sale and I knew the bonnet release was broken when I purchased the car, I just didn't realise the catch/lever was missing completely. It's going in for a service and Castles are going to have a look for me.

I've had a look at the line diagram in the handbook but it doesn't exactly show a lot other than approximate location. I know the lever should be in the left hand footwell by the transmission tunnel, but I cannot see what it should be attached to.

I will email you tomorrow once the twenty four hour 'newbie' period has passed, thanks.

Er, as far as I am aware it is very like the T350. If so, your description is rather far from reality. Far enough that I am nervous about posting details.

Sorry, but which bit is so far from reality? I have only ever looked at two Tamoras in detail, an 02 car which had a Tee shaped bonnet pull in the passenger footwell and the car I have bought which has no release lever inside due to it being broken.
I will be popping along to my local meet week after next but as far as I am aware there is only one other Tamora in the region and they don't always make it to meets.

Many thanks for the email I have just received. Just been out to the garage and checked, it is in the steering column cowl, nice neat aluminium lever. Seems the cable must be detached somewhere as it definitely doesn't release the bonnet.

As I previously said, the 02 car I looked at had it in the passenger footwell and it was a plastic Tee handle.

With my bonnet realease I have to pull the lever and at the same time lift the bonnet, which isn't as easy as it sounds. been meaning to see about designing a fix for this since I bought it, but I have just been a bit lazy !!
