Left 'her indoors' indoors yesterday evening to go for a blatt, and everything was going swimmingly until about 20 mins in. A stupid fat pigeon landed right in front of me on a fast open road.
What do i do: swerve violently and risk a spin, or
: hit the dumb birdbrain.
No question really,i had to hit the feathered plumper...BANG!! F#CK, that tw#t had better not have smashed the carbon splitter i've only just had fitted! I pulled over to have a butchers...the splitter was fine, phew, but on closer inspection,it had smashed my grille, which now has a huge crack in it and is hanging down on that side, not happy! In addition to that, the front was lathered in feathers, blood and flesh,so much so that it had gone all the way up the bonnet, the windscreen, splattered the drivers mirror and (as the Mrs pointed out when i got home early and in an arsey) even splatted my seat, so i had blood and brains on the back of my tee shirt...Grrrr. So,in short,if you're out for an evening blast, beware these cretinous little bell-ends,they're a pain in the arse!

Had a pheasant run out in front of the Griff in the dark....bang.....but none of the usual noises you get when the victim bounces along the underside.

I stopped in a layby next to a pub expecting to find the rad punctured but was confronted by two feet sticking out by the n/s main beam light. The Griff obviously got a taste of blood & liked it because it wouldn't let go of the little critter and resisted my efforts for several minutes.

Finally I got the victim free & stood up, illuminated in the headlights, to show my other half & heard loads of laughter.....turns out there were people sat outside in the pub garden that had witnessed the fight over the pheasant laugh

Feeling slightly paperbag exit pheasant stage left & rapid withdrawl driving

Only the number plate got broken & it took a while to get all the feathers out of the rad core.....my only concern was now the Griff has been 'blooded' was it going to go after bigger game yikes

I can understand why you might be a little 'pi**ed off' but it wasn't a great result for the pidgeon either was it.

I hit a wambat years ago when I lived in Australia. Was driving late at night in a jap sports car, noticed a big rock on the side of the road and then 20 seconds later bang. Stoped looked to see what I'd hit but couldn't see anything. Left and found out the next morning that this rock of an animal had ripped out part of my exhaust and left quiet a bit of fur on the underneath of the car.

I was doing 70mph - the deer jumped out and hit its head against the near side front light area. The car was amazing. The car just abosrbed the impact - so lots of cracks, blood, fur etc - but no new panels, just repairs to the wing! Lucky I dint scoop it up into the cockpit.

Apparantly the rule with roadkill is if you hit it you can't take it home for dinner - if you find a recent kill that was hit by someone else it is all yours. Yummy!!

yep, sounds like him, I was round his place once and he kindly invited me to stay for sunday roast, " there is far to much meat the for me an debs" he proclaims as he removes the silver foil from the joint of meat, I must admit it looked mighty fine, but declined his generous offer.

it was the tyre tracks across the top of it that really put me offrofl

Barstewards,

Clivef, I know we live in the country mate but even round here dead cows aren't considered roadkill. That was prime rib of roast beef you missed out on.

OK, I admit I did skin, cook and eat a dead rabbit I found, but it was a nice fresh one biggrin

I also admit, I do now look at any roadkill and wonder "can I eat it"
Don't worry Clive, you're not worth cooking, but LG - well lets just say I have a BIG bbq wink
