Well, when I say ICE I really mean a philips head unit in a renault 19. Does anyone know if the connections from the head unit go directly to the speakers or via an amp? The colours do not match either end

TIA

Renault? Wiring matching? Are you kidding? laugh

No, it doesn't go via an amp, unless someone's upgraded it which is doubtful.

bloody strange, I was ringing them out and a grey wire at the head unit becomes an orange wire at the rear left?!

It definitely hasn't been modded, I mean it's a renault 19 ffs

It's unlikely the same piece of wire goes from head unit to speaker without going through several connectors and junction boxes somewhere in the car. Dash loom is likely to be connected to body loom somewhere, hence the change of colour.

Try useing a pp9 battery to the wires, the speaker will click when powered,

It won't happen for a while chap (been discussed many times before)

We do rather well on Google search, so imagine the situation where your average Halfords modifier goes to Google and searches for ICE advice. Up pops PH and we create a whole new user group.

Of course, you chaps aren't like that and don't want to talk about plywood bass boxes but within a few months the ICE section would be overrun with that sort of topic. For now, we can keep this sort of stuff in GG - we're hardly groaning at the seams with car Hi-Fi chatter at the moment.

Isn't that what you want? More users = more revenue?

My request for a new sub-forum is only tongue-in-cheek really, as I know there isn't enough traffic to warrant it. But, I have an interest in 'ICE' in as much as I can appreciate a decent 16-speaker Harman Kardon system, and I'm sure many other Ph'ers also do but wont' openly admit it laugh

Many won't believe this, but no. The 'right' user is more appealing than total numbers.

I'm guessing that you're not going to expand upon what constitutes the 'right' user... scratchchin

You know what I mean. PH is for those that know a thing or two about cars and have a good sense of humour and share impeccable taste.

It's not for school boys, or those that might frequent empty McDonalds car parks on a Saturday night.

Any unruly new members will have a can of Red Bull thrown at them.

PH has a DIY forum
PH has a Hifi forum
PH has a photography forum
PH has a gaming forum

It could be argued that there are 'better' alternatives to those sub-fora. But, I'd say it's better to have them all in one place.
