Pug 206 Gearbox
Discussion
After about a week and a half of going on at my dad that theres something deffinatally not right with my car, today we finally got it jacked up on stands to find the fault. Unfortunatally the gearbox is on the way out
Looked online on ebay and seems to be between £160-£170 for one.
Does anybody have any ideas where else i could get one for any cheaper?
It's a 2001 1.4LX 8V
Thanks

It's most likely an MA-type box, issues with these are not unheard of, although they have been used across Pug's and Citroen's for the last 25 years in different forms. However there are plenty of subtle differences between them both in terms of ratio's but also outer features. It would be worth looking for a low mileage/recon box seeing as they aren't bombproof, as for tracking down the right box I am unsure on which cars (if any) share the identical box to that, maybe look at part numbers on the box and possibly ring Pug, see if there are any other cars with the identical one, as that broadens your search horizon! Try these guys they can be hit or miss on parts or look in autotrader.

As I said sometimes they are dirt cheap other times expensive, they do offer a warranty on parts sold though.

I've used them loads of time, never any trouble and decent delivery rates too - well, from most of their members that is.
