Hi

I took home my first brand new car today, its not very PH but cheap to run. Its a Toyota Aygo! My question is that it had 5 miles on the clock, shouldnt it be 0? This may sound like a stupid question but its my first experience on new cars. Thanks

Trucks don't fit into showrooms or storage depots or whatever very well.

Do you think they carry them onto the truck?

Ours had 7 on it - delivery miles + shakedown check + filling it with fuel I think.

Not at all worried by it.

It could be even more than that. Some companies will reset them to zero before leaving the factory if it's below 20 or so.

Some dealers will reset in the PDI too.

Don't worry, this is completely normal. You just need to push it backwards for 5 miles and it will be back to brand spanking new before you know it.

This never used to be a problem when they built the cars from flat packs at the dealerships. Progress eh!

someone may correct me on this but i think the limit is as much as 150miles -certainly the case for contract hire cars.

10-30 is not unusual though as often cars are driven/checked at the factory then again on PDI.

Collected a car once with 999,994 miles on it at the dealer. It soon rolled over on the way home

Some vehicles can be reset to zero from up to 250 miles. Twice.

One last question. The aygo I bought is brand new blah blah. Its a 2010 model. Looking at stickers etc in the engine bay and on the seat belts it looks like it was built in feb of this year. Where will it have been for the last 4 months? I dont no how dealers work? I only ordered it last week so didnt expect a factory order.

Is the Aygo built in the UK? If not, it'll have spent a good while on a boat from somewhere and then another good while sat in a humongous carpark at Portbury...
