Rebuilding a Junkyard Eunos.
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Have finally got round to joining the Forum,
have had a sucession of cars over the years, but have been into off roading for many years and have a modified Range rover Pickup..
Had a Triumph spitfire many years ago and loved the small 2 seater ability albeit with dubious handling.
Then bought a TR7, which was extensively modified, but unreliable..marriage ensued so sensible cars for a while (apart from a brief fling with a 5 litre Trans Am!!)
Despite enjoying Land rovers i missed the sports car theme, but a recent accident, limited me to an automatic and impending divorce also limited funds.
I had a brief test drive in an Auto Miata and loved it, so the hunt was on.I fancied a car that needed work to learn how they work and ensure everything was ok.
I finally tracked one down on ebay via a scrapyard, the car had been driven by an Oxford professor, who had done nothing to it until it died, then pushed it into the scrap yard.it ran, but wouldnt drive, Hard top had been sold but body wise was reasonable straight and rust free,£350 later and it was mine.over use of the pressure washer took paint off the bonnet & headlights so these are now in satin black. so far, a new Autobox has been sourced and bolted in, new radiator sourced,Matawabe alloys, new water pump, timing belt, inlet manifold needs replacing, cam lug had to be replaced, all calipers stripped & lubricated.new soft top,big brake kit & brackets waiting,Performance rear box purchased will get front section fabrictated, Spax adjustables & lowered springs, rears fitted, fronts to do when gearbox/engine completed.Hopefully on the road in late summer, once road legal and reliable, would be interested in tuning further, ie ECU, supercharger. i will post photos when i have 5 minutes. but has been Fun so far....Doug
