Sometimes it's worth slowing down.

Normally I cycle around Hove like a man on a mission to get fit/fall off; iPod wedged in ears (as much to keep them warm), altura jacket, giro lid, 3m clear glasses. It's the destination, distance, and time which matter.
This evening however, a balmy 63 degrees and no wind - too warm for top cog heroics. So I left my mates place in the middle of town and dropped down onto the front at a lazy pace - no iPod, jacket unbuttoned, lid hanging off the handlebars.
Glad I did.
11.30pm, full moon, tide in, calm sea, not a soul about.
Went at walking pace for a mile along the front just lapping it up.
Magic - I would have missed it in a car.
That is all.

I know exactly what you mean, i'm usually trying to be quicker than the night before, but on Monday got up at 03:00 as it was the longest day to see the sun come up and just cruised round my usual route and sat for 1/2 hour watching the sunrise, was awesome totally quiet and chilled

Made me consider getting up at the time at the weekend as well!
