Our S.

I'll post some pics up in a week or two, anyway we've got an S 1.5 (I think), 2.9L, hole in bonnet, dials in curve down centre.
Anyway well it's my dads, done quite a bit to it, he's re-carpeted the whole car and redone all the console and dash material aswell. We've swapped all the internal lights for LEDs on the status lights (lights, indicators, oil light etc), also have LED indicators. Now the bigger stuff, have cut the fibre glass out of the back so the parcel shelf behind the seats is now open to the boot, the roof we've taken completely off and don't use, we bought a custom made hard top that didn't really fit, that is now cut in half so is a 2 part folding hard top. The roof isn't totally finished yet, needs a bit of cleaning up and finishing, also needs spraying (Can't find anyone with the red so might have it done black).

Was wondering what others have done to their S?

Have a look under the bonnet for 'Body Code' on a metal plate then go to the General TVR Stuff and Gossip forum - there are a couple of paint code lists there.

If you have alternator problems when it is up and running it will be because you've changed the warning light for an LED. Its part of the circuit to make the alternator work and an LED instead can cause problems.

Thanks, I'l try get some pics this weekend weather permitting.
Did the LEDs about 2 years ago now and have had no problems (not sure if alternator light was changed).
Cheers for the paint code tip will look at the weekend.

Oh yeah it's a 1989 S, original number plate FXXX HEO, now TVR XXS. I'll add it to the database aswell at the weekend.

Here's a quick pic, keep in mind the roof is a big work in progress. I'll get more pics tomorrow as we're taking it out for a bit.

The roof was a custom made one piece we bought that didn't fit properly, so we've modded it into sections so it folds. The top piece goes in the boot (I think!) and the back bit folds down behind the seas. The back window that came with it exploded so we had to refit our own.

I was down at my local upholsters in Bradford a few weeks ago and I saw a one piece (with glass) back section made out of Fiberglas, don't know who is going to make them but it looked ok .

There is an optional solid back half roof of some sort for the Griff - there was an article in Sprint about optional roofs for the Griff/Chim a little while ago
