Having spent the last couple of months looking at various early examples of the Eunos/MX5 Ive noticed that some cars sit a lot higher than others. Im talking about standard cars too. Although there is a chance some owners might have lowered/modded suspension without actually realising it.

Ive found an example in the classifieds:

Is this standard ride height? If so (unless my eyes are playing tricks on me) the majority of Eunos/MX5s seem to sit lower than this.

Its possible its just the angle but it does look higher than normal in the rear. Here are a couple shots of my old one with its standard 21 year old suspension:

Looks a little high to me, but this could be the angle. Aftermarket rims with big balloon tyres make it look a lot higher. Here is a comparison of mine with such rims then back to standard daisies (albeit with coilovers fitted on the highest setting):

Here's mine. Fitted a set of coilovers, adjusted the height, then over the next couple of months ... it settled.

Ride height here is 28cm all round, have since raised it to 32. Standard is about 35 I believe.

ETA Someone on another thread said it looked like a Citroen with the ignition turned off!

i'm not sure when, i think mid to late 90's when the mk1 came as standard pretty much on stilts. it's commonly called the 4x4 look

What size of car do you put in the garage behind you'r car? the garage looks very very short

The reason I asked about ride height is because I was unsure if it might suggest dodgy/broken/non OEM suspension. And it looks a bit shiiite too.

I believe mine to be standard - and sits higher than most I've seen.

Don't know, it's not mine! Parked on the other side of the street for the photo.

The later the year, the higher the ride height - tieing in nicely with that silver one being a P-reg.

Rules and regulations I think...

This was mine last year :

And now with WiM springs. Its settled a bit on top of this, maybe another 10mm.

Even at that height i have occasional grounding out issues along my sills on stupidly high speedhumps! I can't imagine how bad it is on yours Evangelion !!? hehe

So, to sum up, sitting high isn't a problem, its just they way they from standard?

It was pretty awful as shown in the photo, but it's ok now at 32 all round. New photo to follow, I'll probably have it out tomorrow so will post one then.

Believe so, yes.

Mine is a '96 and it looked like that until WiM put Gaz Golds on.

Standard ride height varying with age (and presumably market) would make sense with the newer cars shown being higher than my old one pictured above, which is an '89 Eunos. I suppose older cars have had longer to sag a bit from original too.
