Yesterday this auction took place:

http://www.brightwells.com/ClassicCarsMotorcyclesA...

Apparently, the place largely emptied just before the England game kicked off, resulting in some very low prices when the hammer fell. Some of my favourites are below and I'm kicking myself for not popping along with a few quid in my pocket.......

308 Dino £10K
http://www.brightwells.com/3rdparty/orphanspress/c...

Granada £900
http://www.brightwells.com/3rdparty/orphanspress/c...

XJS £2K
http://www.brightwells.com/3rdparty/orphanspress/c...

Beautiful 560SEC £2K
http://www.brightwells.com/3rdparty/orphanspress/c...

SL500 £4K
http://www.brightwells.com/3rdparty/orphanspress/c...

4.2 Cerb £9K

There are plenty of others, choose your favourites.

I thought you meant a 246 Dino until I clicked the link! I'd have been there like a shot...

I'm still kicking myself for missing the £26k 550 in Evo last year. I don't trust myself at auctions...

hehe Possibly. I'd have been livid if my car was sold at that time.

That TVR cloud9, is £9000 a good price for one? (not to familiar with prices on them!)

£4k SL500 - do want. Definitely one of the best modern Mercedes ever, enduringly classy design.

They all seem like pretty cheap cars.

All high maintenance though !

Very cheap if the service/maintenance history is as good as suggested...

Unles they were all sold 'no reserve' (unlikely) then they will all have met their reserve and while looking cheap, probably weren't 'that' cheap. That XJS does look cheap though, I fancy a late model 4.0 and they are usually closer to £5k.

christ there was some interesting cars at that auction but strangely a load of common cars that people were paying over the CAP price for especially some of the MGs, MG ZR an TF in particular.

Merc limo could have been a fun purchase to!

True enough. That said, our colleagues over on Classic & Sports Car raised a few eyebrows over the prices achieved too. I wonder if the owners were too naive to set a reserve?

£1250 for this: http://www.brightwells.com/3rdparty/orphanspress/c...

yikesconfused

If that price is correct then that is the bargain of all time with the Sl500 at £4000 a close second.

We had an S320 Limo for our wedding. What a horrible car with board-like seats and nothing to recommend it. SL500s have always struck me as cars for old men with fake tans and watches too.
