Can track only cars -(e.g. radicals, ADRs etc) be entered for trackdays.
For road cars the criteria seems to be "road - worthy " i.e. taxed insured mot'd etc.
What is the criteria for track only cars with slicks etc.
Can anyone help please or point in the right direction - all track day details I can find on the web seem to cater for cars which are or could be driven to the circuit.

we've used a track only (i'e not mot tax etc) locost on a number of trackdays in different places with no issue, the key is if its built properly there shouldn't be a problem.

I seem to remember slicks are different, some places arn't so keen on them i think one at elvington once warned about slicks on road saloons because they'd had a couple roll due to the grip! this was a few years ago though

Thanks for that,
The car in question is an ADR Sport 2 with 1171 cc BMW K1200RS engine and is designed for use with slicks.
I intend to enter sprints and hillclimbs at sometime in the future but would like to enter a few trackdays meantime.

You should be fine. Some companies specify that when using slicks your car must have adequate roll over protection, but for an ADR this will be OK! You are not generally allowed open wheeled cars on trackdays, but a sports prototype style vehicle will again be OK.

Your biggest problem will be the speed differential between you and other traffic, even 'supercars'. A lot of radicals currently experience this sort of problem. Obviously some circuits are better than others. You may also want to pick yout TDO (track day organiser) carefully. Some of the cheaper offerings tend to attract cheaper cars with associated level of observation and anticipation from some of their drivers. However, the cost of the day is not always correlated to the driving standards.....

Worth doing some research to ensure you get the most from your day. Speak to Melindi @ Goldtrack, RMA, etc who will be able to advise you. Most of the TDOs have online booking, etc where you can see what other vahicles are participating in the event. If the TDO senses you are wanting to use the t/day as a *test* day, you will potentially be steered away from their days.

I sort of agree with you, but the more money you have the better driver you are?

Not necessarily a positive correlation, as suggested (perhaps not directly implied) below!

If it's a non-road car I think the general rule is it must be in a condition to be able to pass MSA scrutineering. Also make sure you're within the noise limits which are often "road car" level (eg. 98dB).
