About to take the plunge. Whereabouts on the actual airbox is the best place to do it? Its a 91 1.6. Cheers, ollie

Before the filter, away from the hot bits. May be worth dicting some cold air up there too

I did one facing the front of the car, one at the back facing the bulkhead (make sure you drill under where the bottom of the filter will sit) and two on the right hand side near the wing.Sounds ok to me, but you can get various results with different sizes and amounts.I just spread them this way after reading that dirt tends to get sucked in in one spot if you do them too close together.

i drilled about 10 x 10mm holes on the bottom and nearside. Certainly sounds a lot less asthmatic now.

Why not just go the whole way! I had a huge K&N on mine which came with the car, along with a Mazdaspeed heat shield, oh and a lovely stainless steel exhaust and it sounded fantastic. cloud9 Especially through tunnels.
