Porsche? And any major problems so far?

This question is mainly for 911 owners, but I don't mind poor people who owns those other cars (can't recall the names just now - 948 turbo??) replying too.
Hairdressers' cars can join in as well (Don/Greg).

I'll start - 75k miles on a 996 C4 (1999). No major probs. Just got 4 new tyres fitted (£565 all in!).

Hairdresser? I'll leave you round the twisties mate.

32K, no problems apart from the washer bottle hose mysteriously coming off the other week, and the spanner monkey at OPC S*lv*rst*n* forgot to put the oil filler cap on last time.

Otherwise good as.

What's your car worth now??????????

I thought 11000 on my new 996 Cab since last June was high, obviously not!

...was offered £30k by a private purchaser last week (as I have been thinking about selling it on and off for a few months). However, I've decided to keep it for now and may perhaps do a supercharger conversion.

I get a bit bored of a car after a couple of years - but I honestly can't think of anything affordable (£50kish) that's reliable, relatively practical and a better driver's car.

I did 32,000 in 18 months in the last 911 (a C2) no expences other than 2 fixed price services and a set of tyres done 18K in the new C4S but then what other proper sports car can drive into the ski lodge in Tignes or Virbier without snow chains or winter tyres?

Surely I'm not the only one with well over 100k miles on their Porsche?

Nope, my 944 S2 now has 147k and my 944 Turbo has 103k. I've put 50k on the S2 in 5 years and 30k on the Turbo in 2 years. No major problems, just regular servicing

Use to have a 964C4 CAB, had 80,000 when I got it and sold it with 123,000. It Had a slight oil leak around one rocker cover and the rest was perfect!

Good to hear from others who REALLY use their cars! Saddest thing is to see these cars doing 3k or 4k miles per year only. The owners may well have other cars, but it's sad nonetheless.

My last BoxS did 18,000 miles in two years. My current BoxS will likely do about the same...but I'm keeping this one, I've decided. When its about four I think it will go to visit those nice gentlemen at RUF...then I'll be able to go chasing Daz....

...hadn't thought of a RUF conversion!! What could they do with a stock 996 C4 tiptronic? Any idea of cost anyone? I suppose the tip limits the possibilities.

I am only a poor boy with a boxster 2.5 Can't afford a new one. I have 290.000 km or 181.000 miles on the clock. Bought the car new, never had a breakdown. Due to wear I have replaced the camshafts, the fuelpump and had the starter reconditioned.
And the car does not use oil at all!!!!

As my friend above with the boxster S. My plans are to reach the 400.000 km (250.000 miles) and then plan a visit to Ruf.

The porsche is by far the best car I have ever driven/owned, yep it could use a few extra horses hence the planned visit to RUF

What would RUF do with the Boxster?

Would they replace the engine with a 3.6 from the 996 carrera?

adamt, yep replace the 2.5 by a 3.2 or 3.6.
And if needed some extra tuning bits on top of it.
