Jayzuz, I can't stop bitting at the bit to put a full Milltek exhaust system on the Mk2 RS. Can anyone here who has done it give me some feedback (and lessons learned) please?

There is a seller on ebay selling new systems from the Turbo back (with a sports CAT, which apparantley will pass an MOT?)for about £1,320 delivered. Its big bucks for an exhaust system and I'm looking twice at the cash before I'd hand it over...

Specifically:

1. does the engine need tuning/remapping after its fitted?
2. easy enough to fit (i.e. my local garage man could do it?)
3. CAT back or full system?
4. Any clips to hear yours? Seen a few on youtube...
5. how many marks out of 10 would you give it. If less than 10, why did you deduct!
6. any power gains?

Really, any information or feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Scottish Greg

Why pay so much for a milltek ? much cheaper and just as good getting a mongoose ..... in my opinion.

i have a miltek cat back (until 2moro) it can be a little droney on longer runs, it doesnt bother me in the slightest as its my weekend toy but others that use regular have complained. thats the reason they produced the resonated version.

The system its self is easy to change, the worst thing being you have to cut the old system off.

Griff's car here and 2 min in. is running the full miltek system. http://www.youtube.com/user/GriffST3#p/a/u/0/g46Wf...

Greg; what happens MOT time in a few years (assuming you have kept the RS). Can you fit the old system back on?

I have no plans to ever sell my Focus. So,

1) find a sympathetic MOT station
2) pop in the standard CAT for MOT time, as it will fit back in smile

Like the sound of the system you have and even more tempted now for that, from the turbo back. Did you, or is it recommended to, re-tune the car afterwards?

Did you notice any power gains? think I should fit an air filter as well?

Also, the MOT thing bothers me, so is it a direct fit back on for the CAT or is ther a sports cat available that will pass the MOT?

Cheers
Ronan

Ronan
Ronan,

I did not have a re-tune afterwards, even with a K&N element fitted as well. With a de-cat the MIL light was on. I tried a MIL eliminator but that did not work. The only thing that turn off the MIL light was the GGR340 re-map smile
You can certainly go for a sports cat, but i have heard they can fail on MOT time. The standard cat will pop back in to the Mongoose system ..... perfect for MOT time wink

Excellent - thanks.

I dont want the MIL on at all and getting things tuned here in Ireland is somewhat limited compared to the UK.

Was onto a guy this morning in Amber Performance re this system:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

he says it will pass an MOT and will not put on the MIL. Wondering if he is telling me everything...

Think I'm gonna get it. BTW, what kinda K&N did you fit? Any links?

Oh aye, checked out your youtube clip on the rolling road when you "jumped" - class man! loved that!!

Yeah the sports cat will keep the MIL light off, but i had been warned from an MOT tester that sport cats can fail the MOT as they need to be hot. Maybe you can get your emissions done as soon as you arrive at a garage.
I have the K&N element ... http://www.grahamgoode.com/website/parts.php?websi...
Im sure Amber will sell you one. Cant believe the Mongoose is approx 500 quid cheaper!!
Glad you liked the clips, did you watch 'Prodrive'? that really lets you hear the exhaust smile

Yeah, seen that one too. Your motor looks well.
Been searching today and best price I can get from the turbo back, plus a sports cat is £821. (£699 plus vat). Think I'll get that filter too.

Cheers
