I was in two minds about selling the Cerb for other reasons until I just checked the mail... caught doing 36 in a 30. Couldn't have been at that speed for more than 2 seconds whilst trying to avoid some fker that was intent on running me off the road. Obviously a couple of miles an hour over the speed limit is more of an offence than stopping myself from being in an accident.

Age + accident 2 years ago + 3 points = premiums I can't justify

Will fight the SP30, but don't fancy my chances. Will be leaving this stinking country at the earliest opportunity, too; I'd much rather some other Government have my taxes.

Ah well, it's been fun.

Cheers; I'd just about talked myself back into keeping it after all the ideas we had last night... Oil pressure's been nice & high today - 60PSI @ 2,500RPM once warmed up, so I wasn't even that worried about that any more.

Tried extended high-speed driving on the way home last night, too, to see if it'd drop after 30 mins or so of absolutely caning it, just to convince myself that it's all absolutely fine. It was still happy as Larry after all that. S*dding scameras.

Bad luck James. It seems a real shame considering the amount of work you've put into the car. Seems you're having a bad week, I hope the work situation sorts it self out too.

Darren.

Unfortunately, I'm not 25 yet - the premiums are >£2k as it is, and I was about to have to ask for the mileage allowance to be doubled, too.

Is 3 points for 36 in a 30 really going to make a massive difference?

If so, I'm am seriously gutted for you... sounds like you really do need those few beers in town tomorrow night

Cheers.

Rang up to ask - with the current company, it currently makes me uninsurable. Nearest quote I got was £1k higher when I looked before... without any points.

Will give you a call if I'm out and about tomorrow night. Might be busy tearing down scameras, though!

Im gobsmacked JS.

When I shopped round for my insurance; Liverpool Victoria gave me a good quote. So what I hear you say. Apparently, they told me they weren't bothered about my 2 speeding offences (6pts)..but only if I'd been banned.

I'm already with Tesco... next cheapest was Elephant, and I don't really want to go with them, either! Apparently, if I'd just got 3 points, it'd be OK. And if I'd just had an accident, it'd be OK, but put that & the age & lack of much no claims & everything else together, and the answer's no. (I've checked a lot of permutations!)

I was debating selling the car 'cos of potential job troubles at the moment, anyway; I couldn't guarantee being able to deal with any big bills if they came along for the next few months. I'd just about talked myself out of that being an excuse when the NIP came - only 2 days before their 2 weeks were up, too!

Tried LV, Pert, etc. when I first got it & they couldn't come close to Tesco. Most places don't seem to worry too much about SP30s, now - think it must just be the combination of everything.

I've even chatted to my parents about potentially having them take the points, and me pay them the £50 extra a year it'll be for the next 4 years! Unfortunately, they're honest.

JS, sorry to hear this. Terrible bad luck. Try to hang on to it, but if all else fails, I'm in the market. Mail me with the details - but only if you have to!

James You simply cannot sell mate.

Sleep on it, maybe even sit on the problem for a few days, but you cannot sell.

The investment you have made in the car will not be recouped and that would
add insult to injury.

Heck, hate to say it, but maybe pull the plug on Eurohoon and that would sort you out?

You'll find a way through this I'm sure and still be out in the Cerbera in the summer.

Best of luck mate.

If only insurance was based upon appearance! Only 3 weeks to go before 25, though!

Guess I'd preempted this with our chat last night - shame as I was totally sold on keeping it after I'd got home; think that guage's about as good when cold as the fuel one in your BMW! Easily managed to get the pressure up at 70+ when doing some "spirited driving" even when warmed up.

Ah well, I was just about to spend £1k on an ECU, £2k on a 6-speed box, and then look at the brakes... that'd have been another £5k by the time I'd finished. Give me 3 months and I'll either be in a Cerb RR, or a Tuscan (RR/S).

Joolz, you fancy having a go at just dropping a Tuscan RR ECU into a standard one & getting it rolling roaded?

I'm not geeting this. Your thinking about spending another 5 grand on upgrades, but your worried about your insurance going up a grand or so ?

As for this country, your right it is a s**t dump, but every f***er east of Norwich seem determined to get here, so we must be doing something right.

America's nice if your over 30 (stone)

And as for europe, well the less said about that the better, Egypts nice if you like tripping over dead dogs & donkeys, but as for the beggars, etc etc

Im a tad confused as well....you seem prepared to want to have spent more on up grades, but not the extra on the insurance....
