Just got it in the post, 2 days before the 14 are up. And for when I was trying to avoid getting run off the road by idiots. West Yorkshire Police's FAQ page says:

Can I see the photographic evidence?
These requests will only be considered under exceptional circumstances.

Anybody had any joy getting a picture out of West Yorks? I take it the thing to do is write them a nice letter explaining it could've been me or my father, as we regularly do that trip, and I don't know who was driving at the time, all without signing it?

Help, please! Thanks.

sling it in the bin/completely ignor it. No proof it was delivered, and they only follow up a certain number. They then need to action something within 6 months of the offence. Someone I know has done this, and never heard another word.
If they do follow it up, say you never recieved the original NIP and can't remember who was driving. Could you look at the photos/video to help.
If they refuse, simply be insistant and say that you really don't know who was driving, and your best attempts (ie asking the police to help you with the photos) at remembering have drawn a blank (this is known now as the Hamilton defence (after the hamiltons doing the same and getting away with it)
If they do show you the photos, look to see how clear they are. If they aren't clear, say you don't know who was driving, if they are clear say that it could be either you or your mate (who looks like you)
Then write back to them identifying both yourself and your mate as the drivers. This is known as 'double guilty' and is a sod cos the system can't prodecute 2 people, but your within the law in that you have identified a driver.
They tend to get fed up long before this.
have fun!

Cheers, was going to go down most of that route based upon the advice on here. Think I'll take it a step further and sling it in the bin like as suggest, too.

Tell me about it! I was only doing it (for a second) because of some idiot slowing down/speeding up/flashing me in a dodgy part of town.

If I'm gonna get points, I'd want a "1" in front of that speed. Wouldn't even make for a good photo to frame at <130!

But prosecuting him has saved lives. Think of all the ****ing children and old people that haven't been killed because they prosecuted him for speeding.

TH!NK - Speed Kills.

There is a very fine level.....and that is well below the level in my opinion for what its worth.

A colleague of mine was given 3 points for 38 in a 30 and that was bad..............(Essex Pol).

36 in a 30 is 20% over!! That's like 84 in a 70!!! (faint....)

Only it isn't, because for some reason it's the absolute number, not a percentage.

Sad thing about it is that its far easier to do 36 in a 30 than it is to do 80odd in a 70.

It can be, depends on the Officer and the County.

Yeah.... cnting bureaucracy. Standard yellow-painted camera, from behind. Had a load of furniture in the Cerb at the time (no, really!) - there's a fair chance you won't be able to make a thing out on the pic... if they'll give me it

No driver training offered in West Yorkshire. Nice to see that we live in a country where the law is a standard that's applied to everyone, and that there aren't petty little differences between application of the equally petty laws. [sigh]

Just read one of the FAQ questions off the official West Yorks scamera site:

Q. You're more likely to cause a crash because you're fixated on the speedo.
A. That's like saying you're likely to cause a crash because you occasionally glance in the rear view mirror.

What absolute bks. going from 30-36 in a Cerb takes no more than 0.4 of a second (admittedly with foot to the floor). Realistically, it's no more than a second whilst you're paying attention to something else. What they're saying is it's totally acceptable to lose your licence for glancing away from the speedo for one second per year.

If I'd been doing 40+, I'd deserve the points, and not even have posted about it on here, even if I'd had an excuse for accelerating away from trouble (as Straw's driver was ). But for 6mph. LOCK ME UP. I'M A CRIMINAL

Just to wind you up even more j-s-g - latest from Lancs is.....

..... they are gonna issue a stern warning for 37mph in a 30 and offer the Speed course for "real criminals" - that is according to the local rag!

Every day in every way they get better & better!

You really, really cannot make it up!

What a way of admitting the policy is wrong whilst spinning a yarn about it! Typical muesli munchers! These numpties must think that we are also "numpties" (except most drivers must be - 'cos they pay up and shut up! Up the revolution, folks! The Berlin Wall fell!)

oops!

do camera partnerships comply to the letter with eu. human rights legislation, everyone else seems able to pick holes in things using eu. legislation, most of it is quite deeply flawed?

I really don't know. And didn't we selectively opt in/out of that? I *do* know that the West Yorkshire safety camera site states different facts from the West Yorkshire police site. Which is really helpful for society ruining criminals such as myself One site says I can have the photo, another (basically) says I can't.

They have gotten much worse here in the U.S. too. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) cops will pull you over now for 6 mph over the limit in Texas on highways where you can often see a clear straight highway for several miles at a time. We used to have a 10-13 mph 'safe cushion' over the "Speed limit" before you'd get a ticket but that has recently changed here in Texas. The "Safety Nazis" are cracking down more now. Guess they need more $$$ for Highway Patrol cars. Maybe we brother gearheads across the ocean can find a solution together. In the U.S. we have an organization that fights for our rights to drive faster than the government says is safe. It helped lobby for states rights to set their own speed limts and succeeded in 95'.The National Motorists Organization. www.motorists.org/ Keep up the "Good fight!" Here's to REAL driving!
