Just wondered. 1992 Import model.

title should read "Is the 1.6 an interference engine?"

nope. drive it till the timing slips hehe
1992 would be a short nose crank as well i'd imagine. probably best holding out for as long as you can biggrin

'92 won't be short nose, my UK '91 (J reg) isn't.

Edit: 1.8s started in '94 all MK1, 2, 2.5 engines are non interference. I don't know about the mk3.

ok great, so only problem with a snap is the inconvenience of being stranded?

Well, it's not terribly good for the engine, but the valves won't go through the bonnet. smile

yeah my 91 is long nose crank too so don't worry about that.
