Guys,

The cooling fan on my ZR isn't kicking at all even when sitting in stationary traffic in warm weather.

I've tried removing the connector from the temp sensor and the fan starts (a default setting I understand?) so I know it's working.

The water is definately getting to the rad and passing the sensor, the temperature gauge inside is at the bottom of the gauge when cold and then increases to just under halfway when warm and doesn't change.

From this I am deducing that it must be a faulty temperature sensor, does this sound about right?

If I change the sensor will I have to re bleed the cooling system? Or can I just whip the sensor out and put a new on in quickly and get my hands wet?!

Any help appreciated, as I don't really want to bugger up the cooling system!

Thanks

If the water temp never moves aboove normal. Why would the fan actually need to come on ?

I'd only be worried if the water temperatures were above normal and the fan wasnt coming on.
Clearly the fan itself has the ability to work as was proven when you disconnected the temp sensor plug.

I've asked the same question on the MG forum and had the answer that the fans hardly ever run on the ZR.

Seems odd to me, as on both previous cars the fans used to come up on for fun!

I'll stop worrying now, thanks. thumbup
