Motorcross helmets

Quick question; are motor cross helmets acceptable for track days? Are there any standards which they need to adhere to?

Yep.. used mine a number of times I do take the visor off first..

They usually have to be ACU Gold or Silver.
And there was another bike standard but I can't remember what it was.

Acceptable maybe but reccomended? Personally I think you would be mad to wear one in a car, if you have a smash the chin piece can either dig in to your chest and force your head to rotate around that point or the chin piece will hit the steering wheel and force your head backwards. Up to you though.
