In today's Sun I saw an offer for 'Free Coke or Burger for a pound'

I didn't read the whole thing, so there may be some odd logic to this somehow, but how can anything be 'free' if it costs a pound?

Is this the ultimate lure for the thicko public? The ones who go to a Pound-Shop to pick up a bargain tube of tooth paste when they could have got Colgate for 97p at the chemist next door. The ones who buy a massive TV from Brighthouse because it's only £6 a week (for the next 1000 weeks)

Maybe I'm opening a can of ambiwlans here, has anyone else seen it? Is it really free for a pound?

I know the type.

One I know of at work has a house which is about to be repossessed, the roof leaks into her daughter’s bedroom...

She came into some cash (£500) and bought a fking plasma TV!

I really do hate these people.

ah this makes sense of it, but use of punctuation in the paper would have helped!
Serves me right for not reading it through.

You could e guaranteed 1 million pounds, if you ring this number for £5 a min, calls could take up to 15 min. Yeah good one.

Anybody who is stupid enough to read The Scum is likely to be stupid enough to believe that getting a free can of coke for £1 is a good deal

No, they really are getting the drink free...If they don't want the drink they can pay a pound and get a burger worth £? instead.

Probably the same idiot who put the sign up outside a pub I was in the other night saying.
"Open all day from 12noon"

Baffling.

I once saw a sign at a bootsale:
Books for sale. 20p each of 4 for £1.

We did a boot fair once, and my dad had LOADS of old golfballs that he wanted to sell. So, big bucket, and he put up a sign saying;

15p each
or
6 for £1

The amount of people that bought 6 for £1 was interesting hehe

If a few clubbed together they could have bought 18 balls for £3

Ultimate lure for the thickos round here is the lake across from my house, it has signs about 100 yards apart, all round the lake saying do not swim or enter the lake, as it is contaminated with toxic blue-green algae. Thats why when i was in casualty the other day, there were three seperate sets of people complaining of stomach cramps and diaorhea after swimming in the lakerolleyes
