Removing a topic...question

So, I recently replied to a topic on the forum and I have now looked to find it and it no longer exists. I looked at my profile at the section that lists where I have posted and that no longer exists! Can you delete a topic AND all of its replies when you please just because you fancy it or, as I presume was the reason for this deletion, because it was getting a negative reaction?

I'm sure you can see why we do this? If a topic is reported, requested to be removed by the OP (with a valid reason) or appears to be going way off topic then we delete it. There are many other reasons why a thread might be deleted. If this happens, then all posts included within are removed too - but only the OP receives notification.

This does help, thanks, however, I feel the reason for the deletion was because the thread was getting a negative reaction which disgruntled the OP band shouldn't have deserved a deletion IMO.

Ahh. Can't really comment as I'm not sure what the thread was but I can assure you that it would have been removed with good reason, as deletion is always a last resort.

It was called 'Run to the Sun' in Events and meetings. Why was it removed?

Oh that one.

It contained a link to an event website, the event was being organised by a friend of the OP and a list of cars taking part was mentioned.

This one was removed as it was too much like an advert for a mate. Harsh? Perhaps, but we've enforced this rule for almost 10 years so we need to be consistent. If we allow one to run, all those who have had similar threads removed in the pastvcomplain (quite rightly).

I removed 3 threads right before this one, the OP of those being the organiser, then this one appeared, so am guessing it was removed for the advert
