It has been two and a half years since I sold the love of my life, an imola red Z3M Coupe. Since then I've been driving a 350Z and whilst it was a very capable car, I always longed for the torque and extra power of that the Z3 had spoiled me with.

After 6 months of umming and arring, yesterday I part ex'd the 350Z for a 2007 black Z4M Coupe (pic in my profile). What a car!

I haven't had much of a chance to drive it yet, though first impressions are every bit as good as I have been hoping for since BMW sent me the Z4M brochure about 4 years ago. The engine is brilliant and the grunt is matched well by the exhaust notes. The ride is a bit on the firm side (was suspension an optional extra?) but I couldn't care less.

I can't wait to take it for a little burn around South Wales later.

Is there anything a new owner should be aware of with these cars?

The only issue right now is that the bluetooth pairing code is missing and it looks like I either have to tear the boot lining out to access the unit or pay a BMW main dealer £50-60 to sort it out. Anyone know of a different way?

Did something similar myself, Z3MC to Z4 Alpina (not the same) then into the Z4MC. Sort of the same but nicer. The only thing you should be aware of is the CDV, if your clutch biting point feels a bit wrong and 1st to 2nd is a bit kangaroo-ish you need to get rid of the CDV.

Nothing much else to report, just enjoy it, oh and put some CSL's on it. Standard wheels look a bit cack.
