E91 M3 Operating temperature

My brother has very kindly lent me his E91 M3 for a couple of weeks whilst he is away. Since driving it I have noticed that the engine temperature gauge stays just over 100oc. Is this correct for the 4.0 M3?

I should think so

The oil temp gauge on every M-car I've owned has sat just below 100 when driving normally, creeping just above it when pushing on.

100 is right, will run hotter if you track it, but 100 is standard.

E90 or E92 or E93.

I am not up on my BMW platforms so it is the E92 Coupe

Thanks for that. It just seemed a little high for normal running as I am not driving it very hard. I was also slightly concerned as I could only check the oil level using the I-Drive.
