Either Capello will stay (but I doubt it) or Pearce will get it, no one else on the list would want the job!

Somebody who can get results out of the players available, and who would pick a team on merit not reputation, as has been done for years

Doesn't matter. After what, 6 'failed' managers, I suspect it may be the players that need to be brought into question.

May as well give it to Mike Bassett. If he had stuck his guns as played people on form it might have been a different story.

I think Capello will resign and with Hodgson likely to go to Liverpool Rednapp would be my choice but to be honest after that performance, it would take a miracle worker to get the England team to perform with any degree of skill and passion.

If Fergie got the job (he wouldnt take it, but...) at least Man U would start losing.

The trouble is, it's not actually that much fun.

The money is great but you play few games and you will always end up losing.

If they made it an Englishmen only that would be a start, they need the dressing room which FC clearly did not have.

Also, as we will always lose but for some reason expect to win its a stop start affair with people losing their job every five minutes so no idea of how to build long term plans and relationships.

It's a business, and sadly a terrible fat cat one at that.

why would a big manager leave a club doin well to manage england who are 2 years away from the next tournament? one poor run and your out the door with a big blemish on a good history as a manager

Just look at the squad that turned out in the 2006 tournament. It's not hugely different from this one, the odd fringe player has changed, along with the manager.

Sadly, the starting 11 and tactics are depressingly similar.

How long do you spend lavishing a turd with Pledge before you realise it just ain't going to get any shinier?

The English players have too much money so aren't hungry enough to win.
Make them play in an 'X-factor' type TV prog for England ...and then once the squad have been decided make them ashamed to lose.

Why on earth do people keep mentioning Beckham? Does sitting o the bench in a suit make you a manager nowadays?

Stick with Capello for now, for fks sake don't give it to an English manager, give them a chance to build a reputation before destroying it!

Harry has already said a while back that the FA would never gim him the job.

I'd say give it to Hodgson.

They need to get shot of Capello, but I always thought under his control the team has been flattering to deceive in the qualification matches....I'd been saying so to my work mates for the past 18 months and constantly been told I'm wrong...... rolleyes

Pearce should get it, he could play at left back too, and ash cole can get back to what he does best, posing for photos and being a wker
