Purchasing an M6
Discussion
Looking to buy an M6 probably from a dealership to have peace of mind with warranty.
Could the guys in the know please help me with:
1. Any key options the car should have like Extended Merino Leather?
2. Do all the M6 have the same SMG gearbox i.e is the 2005 box same as the 2007?
3. Apart from tyre and brake ware anything I should be looking out for?
4. Are the seats ok for fatties, just bought a 996 turbo and the seats can be a bit tight on a long journey.
They look like incredible cars for the money, looking forward to playing an active part of this forum.

1. Extended is standard, full is £5k extra. There are small extras like tv module etc. which are nice.
2. All same.
3. If you're buying from a dealer then warranty will pick anything up - i.e. you buy a car with no problems, then it tells you what's wrong with itself & BMW fix it, no questions.
4. (not wanting to give away my 'frame' size) seats are fine for a 'normal' built person.
They are incredible cars. a word I use when describing power is savage. Buy & enjoy, just don't worry if it needs a bit of warranty work during ownership. Also don't worry about smg, you'll get use to it & make it quicker than you need - it just takes time.

Bought mine (a cabriolet) 2 weeks ago and it`s an amazing car. Can do the gentle cruise to work and a weekend hoon as well. Get Michelin pilot sport 2s on if you can, seem to work wonders on the car.
Full merino leather is a really nice option, mine is gold brown, sets the sapphire black off very well.
Soft close doors, comfort access, TV, DAB, all worth having if you can get it but you`re really buying it for the engine.
Don`t buy one without AUC warranty unless you are earning big moolah!

Actually I think the seats could be a bit tight for the more ample amongst us.. I'm 6'3" and 14 stone and its a bit on the tight side for me, certainly more so than my e92 M3.
I don't think there are any must have options - it's all icing on the cake - but I like my full leather. Would have liked DAB, and individual audio, but the Logic 7 is good enough. I dont like the ipod interface, so am thinking of swapping it with a dension.
Warranty is a must. Make sure that the supplying dealer fixes all cosmetic issues with the car, including seals & trim, as this is not covered under AUC warranty. Make sure that the assist works, as it can fail and is time consuming to fix.
Enjoy!

I was negotiating on that car 8 weeks back, if its the black/black one. They wouldn't come down to a low enough price to warrant me going up there, and then it sold (apparently). I was surprised to see it reappear a couple of weeks later for a grand less. Must have had a sale drop through..? Anyway its been with them for a while, so aim low I say, because they will have to put it into auction soon. I thought it all checked out OK, but I wanted the salesman to take high res pics for me as I was so far away, but they never got round to it. For your info when it was up for 33 they were willing to take 31.5. Seemed to have most of what you want, but I was concerned about the brake discs & pads, as coming up for 40k I thought they should be about done, but they were still on originals. Get them to take pics of the bolster on the drivers seat, and be prepared for lots of stone chips at the front. Get close up pics of all the alloys. But I would have bought it probably if it was nearer, as it was I got an almost identical one but without TV. Good luck!

The other car i was looking at was a 996 turbo but baby on the way means i needed more space and now i have the M6 i would not change it, so much car for the money, the 996 seems so dated compared to the M6, and if you look on youtube it will take a 996 turbo no problem once on the move!Could the guys in the know please help me with:

I have one now and loving every minute! Done nearly 2000 miles in it now and still enjoy the power but looking to do some basic mods soon to get a few more hp's! Would be nice if it was a little better on fuel but i guess its what to expect with this sort of motor, think i will have to use it less to appreciate it more!

Oh, I see its been reduced again! I bet they wish they had sold it to me for what I offered now.. I'd say this looks like a great deal in the making with the 2 years AUC warranty available until the end of the month..
i gave up on them very unprofessional, last time i check it was 30kGassing Station | M Power | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

Starting to think if they actually have the car advertised.lol
